Reflective Clothing: A New Chapter in Safety Barriers and Technology

November 29,2025

Recently, reflective clothing has been upgraded from basic protective equipment to a carrier of technological innovation on the international stage. On November 26th, the EU RAPEX system reported that China’s exported reflective vests were unqualified, directly stating that their reflective performance did not meet the EN ISO 20471 standard, highlighting the strict global requirements for safety compliance. At the Ukrainian Defense Exhibition, STG launched a silver based anti infrared raincoat that uses low emissivity materials to make soldiers “invisible” under thermal imaging, redefining the application boundaries of reflective technology.
From the rigid requirement for EU Class 3 warning clothing to cover 0.8 square meters of reflective material, to Canada Goose incorporating reflective finishes into fashionable outerwear, reflective technology is penetrating multiple fields. The microprism reflective film developed by 3M Company has increased the reflection coefficient to 650cd/(lx · m ²), significantly reducing the nighttime accident rate during the construction of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge.

The debate over the performance of reflective clothing is essentially a debate over the guarantee of life safety. Whether it is the compliance requirements of industrial scenarios or the covert needs of the battlefield, technological upgrades and standard improvements make this’ luminous equipment ‘more reliable.
